Study in the UK (Our Core Expertise)

The UK remains one of the most popular destinations known for its world-class universities, shorter degree duration and strong global recognition.

Duration

In the United Kingdom, the duration of an undergraduate degree will vary depending on the type of course you are studying. A typical undergraduate degree in England, Wales and Northern Ireland takes about 3 years to complete, whereas a typical Scottish degree would require 4 years. Some specialised degrees have longer duration, such as a degree in Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) which takes between 5 to 6 years to complete.

One distinct advantage of a UK degree is the emphasis on developing vocational and transferable skills. For this reason, most UK undergraduate degrees offer an extra year in between a student’s penultimate and final year of studies, providing the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in industry or to study abroad in a different country.

Placement Year (Sandwich Year)

This extra year in industry is known as a ‘sandwich’ or ‘placement’ year, where students would also be paid a salary for the work they do. Besides the exposure to industrial practice, students who have undertaken a placement year improves their chances at securing a job offer from the same employer, provided that they have had a positive experience with you during your placement.

How to Apply (UCAS)

All undergraduate applications to UK universities are submitted through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
